Warren is built privacy-first. The short version: there are no accounts, almost everything stays on your device, and the only data that ever leaves it is optional, anonymous, and off until you turn it on.
Warren has no accounts and no login. The things you do in the app — your name (if you enter one), the topics you're into or have muted, the facts you've saved, the gold cards given to you, and your notification settings — are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded, and we have no way to see them. Uninstalling the app removes them.
Warren has an opt-in setting in The Den → "Help improve Warren" that is turned off unless you enable it. When it's on, the app sends a small amount of anonymous, coarse usage data so we can tell whether Warren is genuinely useful (it is deliberately designed not to be an addictive feed — no streaks, no scores).
What is sent when it's on:
What is never sent: your name, your contacts, the message you type on a gold card, or anything that identifies you. We do not use this data for advertising, we do not sell it, and there are no third-party trackers. You can turn it off at any time in The Den, and nothing is sent while it's off.
So that facts can improve without waiting for an app-store update, Warren periodically downloads its fact library from our content server. This is an ordinary web request; our hosting/CDN provider (Cloudflare) may process technical information such as your IP address to deliver the file, as any website does. The app sends no account or personal identifier with this request.
Sending a gold card is an action you start. Warren hands the card to your phone's normal share sheet — you choose the app and the person. The link that travels carries only the fact's id and the name you typed as the sender; it contains no other personal information. When someone opens a gold-card link, our landing page renders a preview; as with any web page, standard server data (e.g. IP address) may be processed by Cloudflare to serve it.
The optional daily nudge is a local notification scheduled on your device. It contains no personal content and involves no server.
Warren is a general-audience app. It requires no personal information, and the only optional data (the anonymous analytics above) collects nothing that identifies anyone, including children.
